Treasure Boxes!

Updated: Feb 26, 2024

This was my first time facilitating a process art class. I had a terrific group of people willing to be a part of my FFT (Freaking First Time). We did it together! We supported each other, we all built treasure boxes, and we all learned something about ourselves in the process. We had fun too! None of us wanted to stop. All of us were amazed when two hours disappeared.

Do you remember the last time you had a treasure box? I have one I made in 5th grade that has traveled and moved with me for years. About every 10 years, I open it up and look at the cool things I tucked inside. Things that mattered to 5th-grade me. There are marbles, a tea set that was a gift, a leather "medicine" bag.

I still use treasure boxes for things I care about. Right now, I have two. In one, I put love letters to Jon. Whenever I think of something about him, or us, that I think is really neat, I write it down and put it in the box. If I'm travelling and he needs a virtual hug, he can go pull out a letter. In another, I put things I am giving to the Creative Source. Into my "God box" I put things that I'm worrying about and need to let go of, dreams, and aspirations.

Now here's a question for you... If you had a treasure box, what would you put in it?
